I liked biting into this burger.
Recipe adapted from Giallo Zafferano
time: 50 min + 2 hrs soaking lentils
ingredients
- 250 g (9 oz) dry green (or red) lentils, soaked for at least 2 hrs
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon sweet paprika (in powder)
- 2 Tablespoons green onions, chopped finely
- 50 g (1/3 cup) bread crumbs
instructions
- Cook soaked lentils in unsalted water (20 minutes for green, 5 minutes for red). Drain them well. In a food processor, blend lentils, let them cool a bit. In a medium bowl, combine lentils with the rest of the ingredients till smooth or almost smooth.
- Form patties and cook on a skillet (drizzled with olive oil) 3-4 minutes on each side. Remove burgers and place on a piece of a paper towel for the excess oil to drip off.
- I like lentils but I'm always afraid of that difficult taste; the burgers don't have that;
- the combination of flavors is very pleasing and satisfying;
- I even skipped a dessert and had yet another burger;
- my small blender couldn't handle all the beans, so I did most of the work just using a fork;
- the bean-mix doesn't have to be all smooth;
- I make something out of beans lately once or twice a week and researching ideas that I would want to eat;
I wonder if I could get my hubby to eat these...

Depends on the hubby, but knowing the general nature of hubbies, I wouldn't try too hard, Mandy :-). xo
ReplyDeleteI've never tried lentil before. Wonder what's the taste like but look good :)
ReplyDeleteThey are boring and annoying when alone...kind of like broccoli. But benefit greatly from good company of spices and herbs. Thank you for taking time to stop by, Ann Low :-).
ReplyDeleteWonderful burgers! I love lentils and patties of that kind.
ReplyDeleteCheers,

Very happy to hear that, Rosa. Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteThese are right up my alley!
ReplyDeleteHope you'll like them, Angie! Thanks for checking up :).
ReplyDeleteYum, perfect for my meatless Mondays!
ReplyDeleteIt would be great if you add button for followers, you might have more followers that way. Blogger doesn't let having more than 300 in a reading list, but clicking on a F button is the only way of adding your blog to my list ;-)
Thanks a million, Jasna. Just did it!
